Two light-up toy lines with button batteries a child can get at, 425,000 of them, lead the CPSC's September 10 recalls. Also recalled: a dresser that fails the tip-over law, gas ranges that can leak, and SHEIN children's loungewear that fails the sleepwear fire standard.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission posted twelve recalls on September 10. The largest by units after a candy recall covered earlier are two sets of children's light-up toys whose button batteries children can reach: Cade California finger lights, about 179,700 sold on Amazon over eleven years, and ZMC Group light-up toys, an expanded recall now totalling about 245,100. Swallowed button batteries can cause internal chemical burns and death. The same day brought FJTJBSI six-drawer dressers that fail the STURDY Act tip-over standard, AGA and La Cornue dual-fuel ranges whose missing test-port cap can leak gas, SHEIN children's loungewear that fails the sleepwear flammability standard, a busy board with lead in its zipper, and hair-dryer brushes with no protection against electrocution in water. One injury and no deaths are reported across the twelve. Every item has a refund, repair or replacement.

The CPSC posted twelve recalls on September 10. Two were covered here on September 14: the 2.3 million Sour Crush candy bottles and the Prepared Hero fire-spray canisters. Of the other ten, six are for children or put children at risk.

Toys with batteries a child can reach

Two recalls, one hazard: small round button-cell batteries that a child can get out of the toy. The CPSC's wording: the toys "contain button cell batteries that can be easily accessed by children," and swallowed batteries "can cause serious injuries, including internal chemical burns, and death."

  • Cade California finger light toys: about 179,739, sold on Amazon from March 2015 to July 2026 for $5 to $16. Refund. Throw the toy away and send a photo.
  • ZMC Group light-up children's toys (models SS041-M, G02-UN, PS270, PS271, 777-1): an expanded recall, now about 245,124, including 124,560 recalled in May. Sold through Diva at Heart stores, mainly in California, Texas, Oregon, Mississippi and Arizona, other retailers, and divaatheartsj.com, since 2018. Refund after removing the batteries.

No incidents are reported for either. Both were recalled for violating the mandatory federal toy standard.

A dresser that fails the tip-over law

FJTJBSI six-drawer dressers, about 9,000, sold on Amazon from November 2024 for about $170. They are "unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in risks of serious injuries or death to children. The dressers violate the mandatory safety standards as required by the STURDY Act." Refund. Mark it "RECALLED" and send a photo.

Gas ranges that can leak

AGA Elise and Mercury, and La Cornue CornuFé 90 and 110 dual-fuel ranges, about 3,992 in the U.S., sold through appliance dealers for $6,000 to $20,000. A missing cap on the gas test port "can cause a gas leak, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire or explosion hazards." Until the free repair: "Consumers can continue to use only the electric oven sections of the range. The gas surface burners cannot be used."

Clothes, a toy with lead, and hair dryers

  • Sweet Cubby children's loungewear sets (sizes 5-6Y to 13-14Y), about 12,461, sold on SHEIN for $8 to $12. They "violate the mandatory flammability standard for children's sleepwear, posing a risk of serious burn injuries or death." Refund.
  • SQT Lontcs busy board, about 1,835, Amazon: "The toys' zipper contains levels of lead that exceed the standard set in the federal lead paint ban." Refund.
  • Hair-dryer brushes, model XR-8801, sold on Amazon under two names, DHASUWT (about 1,738) and Wantefully (about 2,295). Both lack the built-in protection against electrocution if the dryer falls into water. The DHASUWT version has ten reports of smoking or catching fire. Refund.
  • Victgoal children's bike helmets, about 40, Walmart.com: fail the retention and stability requirements of the helmet standard. Refund.
  • Triumph TF450 competition motorcycles, about 1,560: an exhaust rocker arm can seize. Twelve reports, one broken bone. Free repair.

Where they were sold

Seven of the ten were sold only online: five on Amazon, one on SHEIN and one on Walmart.com. Eight of the ten were recalled for breaking a mandatory federal standard, not for failing in use.
